This is Why I Stayed: I Love Your Stories

This is my favourite story (for now!). A friend told me about the time his father came to visit. They were catching up when his dad noticed a deck of But Honestly sitting on the table. Curious, he picked it up, fanned through the cards, and stopped on one:

"Is there anyone in this room you need to apologise to?"

Silence filled the room. Then, a single tear rolled down his father’s cheek. He turned to his son and whispered an apology he’d been holding in for years. They had a long chat about it. They forgave and and embraced each other; all because of a single card.

I still get teary when I remember this story!

Another story came from a group of friends on a trip. It was late at night, the kind of setting where conversations get deeper. A little wine, music in the background, laughter and jokes fading into something softer. One of them pulled out a But Honestly deck. She wanted to try it with her friends. At first, it was fun and playful, but soon the questions unlocked something more. Tears started to flow. These friends, who thought they knew each other inside and out, realised there were sides to one another they’d never seen before.

I’ve had many moments like this myself. But what amazes me every single time is that the cards keep doing more than I could have ever designed them to do. They’re not just prompts. They’re keys. Keys to conversations, to healing, to connection, to memories that linger long after the game ends.

I credit this all to God. But Honestly isn’t about the cards at all. It’s about the people holding them, the courage to open up, and the moments that follow.

Share your story! It really fuels me to keep this brand going. Can't wait to share them all either through social media or blogs!
